Counseling

Welcome Back Northlake Students to the 2024-2025 school year. I’m excited to continue my journey as a school counselor helping students with issues that affect their academics, and personal/social interactions.

I am a firm believer that “Every Child Needs a Champion” and needs to have regular contact with a “Charismatic Adult”, that is an adult from whom they can draw strength! I believe in teaching grit and resilience. Not in solving students’ problems but in helping them to find their own solutions!

Every student has a story! The beauty of stories is there is not just one.  If you do not care for your current story, you can begin a new one!

I will assist students in developing their stories this year by:

• Promoting positive attitudes and building a positive peer culture among students towards self, family, peers and community.
• Assisting students in learning how their attention and diligence toward school performance relates to future opportunities.
• Teaching skills such as decision making, resolving conflict and respecting others.
• Working with students, parents and school staff to identify learning needs and to design interventions to enhance student success.
• Helping students to recognize and make the best of their abilities.
• Providing support during a personal crisis.
• Working with students on attendance issues.
• Coordinating referrals to outside agencies.
• Developing student career awareness.
• Helping to create a safe and positive learning experience.
