Chinese to Spanish Transition

12‑Year Transition of Chinese to Spanish at Northlake/THS 

Overview: Northlake/THS will gradually transition from offering Chinese to offering Spanish over a 12‑year period. Each year, Chinese instruction is reduced by one lower grade level, while Spanish instruction expands upward by one grade level until it spans Grades 1–12.

Chinese Phase‑Out by School Year

  • 2023–2024: Chinese offered in Grades 1–10

  • 2024–2025: Chinese offered in Grades 2–11

  • 2025–2026: Chinese offered in Grades 3–12

  • 2026–2027: Chinese offered in Grades 4–12

  • 2027–2028: Chinese offered in Grades 5–12

  • 2028–2029: Chinese offered in Grades 6–12

  • 2029–2030: Chinese offered in Grades 7–12

  • 2030–2031: Chinese offered in Grades 8–12

  • 2031–2032: Chinese offered in Grades 9–12

  • 2032–2033: Chinese offered in Grades 10–12

  • 2033–2034: Chinese offered in Grades 11–12

  • 2034–2035: Chinese offered in Grade 12 only
