Vice Principal Melinda Kirk Dow's Message:
Welcome to Northlake Elementary School. My name is Melinda Kirk Dow and I grew up right here in Tooele, Utah. I am honored to be a part of Northlake Elementary's family and to work everyday with such amazing staff, students and families. I am doing my Administrative Internship at Northlake Elementary to work to become a Principal and feel like I am blessed beyond measure to be able to learn from Principal Feldman who has served our community in the Administrative capacity for a few years. I look forward to getting to know each of you on a personal level as we work together to ensure our students' success.
I received my Bachelors of Science from the University of Utah and worked as a Special Education Teacher for the past 11 years. My Special Education background gives me the knowledge and expertise to understand students who struggle in certain areas, and need supports to ensure their success with academic and social outcomes. I've worked with many different age groups and ability levels which gives me the experience that I carry with me today. I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked with such an amazing population of students throughout the years of my academic career. My experience has enabled me to have the love and compassion needed to advocate for students in all areas of their lives.
After working in Special Education, I decided to further my career and go back to school to become a Principal so I could work with and impact a larger population of individuals within our school and community. I attended Southern Utah University and received my Masters of Education with an Administrative Licensure.
My love for education and student growth is visible everyday as I am given the opportunity to work and learn from outstanding individuals and serve in the capacity of student safety and advocation. When your children walk through the doors of Northlake Elementary, I look at them as our children and will continue to focus on their safety and success as the years progress. I am here to support not only your students but your families as well.
