Principal Milne’s Message:
Welcome to Northlake Elementary School. I grew up in Sandy, Utah and moved to Tooele in 2000 with my husband. I graduated from Westminster College in 1998 with my Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education in 2002. I taught art at Valley Junior High in West Valley. Moved to Tooele High School to teach art, concurrent art, and yearbook. In 2008, I left to start an administrative internship at Grantsville High School while attending the University of Phoenix to earn my Principal Licensure. During that year, I finished at East Elementary as the Interim Principal. Stansbury High School opened in the fall of 2009 and I was the Assistant Principal there for five years. I then moved to be the principal of Northlake Elementary School starting fall 2014, ‘The Best Kept Secret in Tooele.’
What a pleasure it is to work with students, parents, and staff to create a school of excellence. Northlake has an exceptional teaching staff with a wealth of knowledge and abilities. Our support staff is outstanding as well, they work in different capacities to support your child’s learning. Close cooperation between the home and school is essential to promote the best interests of the child. Parents are encouraged to visit the school and attend scheduled meetings between parents and teachers. It is mutually beneficial when there is a meaningful exchange of information between home and school. Parents are our partners in the important job of educating the children of this community. We welcome your support and hope you will volunteer to join the PTA and/or Community Council.
Northlake is a Title I school which means we receive financial assistance from the Federal Government because we have, “high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards.” We also have a Dual Language Immersion Chinese program. I believe that when we work together as a school and community we will better develop our children into productive citizens and those who love to learn.
